Database

This research area is motivated by the increasing data production in different areas of society (organizations, research groups, social interactions, etc.). The process of knowledge discovery requires organizing these data in order to understand any given physical or social phenomenon, identifying improvements in industrial processes or even new scientific discoveries. It is also necessary to research innovative ways to visualize and interact with this data. Accordingly, innovative research is conducted on the acquisition, organization, filtering, tracking, visualization, interaction and data mining, as well as the development of new algorithms that allow all queries and data analyzes to be effectively and efficiently performed. In this research area, in addition to the improvements in database management systems, different applications involving the use of large volumes of data, such as bioinformatics and health, enterprise applications and business processes, social networks and government applications are also studied.
