Graphics Processing studies the processes or computational techniques involving geometric models and digital images. The projects in this research line entail the transformation of geometrical data into images, the transformation of images into diverse data, the study of efficient ways to visually display large amounts of data, the development of algorithms to assist in the discovery of structures of interest contained in images, the study of forms to represent and manipulate three-dimensional geometric models, in addition to visualization techniques and interaction within Virtual and Augmented Reality systems. The research applications include areas of health, education, entertainment, bioinformatics, games, among others. Examples of applications developed at PPgSI: computer-aided diagnosis systems, virtual medical training, serious games for rehabilitation, morphological analysis of living beings and recognition of sign language.
